(Fixed) BMW ICOM A3 program ok but fail to diagnose

Question:
BMW ICOM A3 Program ok but diagnose with no luck, device fail to connect. How to do?

Possible reason:
The hardware version is too low to do diagnostic job.
Solution:
Update firmware to the newest version, e.g fw 1.40.05/01.25.02

To get BMW Diagnostic Tool ICOM, ICOM A1 and common ICOM A2 run with the newest ISTA-D Rheingold ISTA-P, user is required to update firmware to the newest version
Firmware current system Image version: 01.25.02
Firmware current application Image version: 01.40.05
What ICOM hardware APPLICATION 1.40.05 and SYSTEM version 01.25.02 is compatible with?
Take www.worldobd2.com for example, all of following available ICOM is tested working fine with APPLICATION 1.40.05 and SYSTEM version 01.25.02:
Perfect version ICOM A: item NO SP168-BA and SP168-BO
Step – by –step procedure:
1.Please use internet cable to connect ICOM (including all available ICOM) with computer, and plug 12V power adapter to super ICOM A2 to supply power or connect ICOM to BMW vehicle for power.
2.Unzip perfect ICOM A1 A2 fw 1.40.05 upgrade files.
1) Perfect version ICOM A: Open IE Internet Explorer, enter address http://169.254.33.45:60080/, log in with username/password: root/NZY1150263
2) Common version ICOM A2 A1: browse http://169.254.92.38:60080/ and username/password: root/NZY11502.
Following picture is perfect version ICOM A fw 1.40.0/ 01.25.02 login inform.

For the following operation procedure, both common BMW ICOM Next and super version ICOM are the same.
3）Click “Update Firmware”, you will see ICOM firmware version information.

4）Click “Browse” to select file “ICOM-BootImage-01-25-02.bin”, set image type as “SYSTEM”, click “Send the file”.
5）When you get message “Write the image file to the flash?” click “Yes”, then ICOM indicator light will turn red.
6）When you get message “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successful”, click “Update Firmware”.

7）Choose ” ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-40-05.bin”, set image type as “APPLICATION”, click “Send the file”, it will cost several minutes please be patient to upload.
8）When you get message “Write the image file to the flash?” click “Yes”, then the OBD-II scan tool ICOM indicator light will turn red for the second times.
When it finish upgrading, click “reboot”.
9）Click “Home” – “Update Firmware”, you will find ICOM A2 firmware update to the newest version:
Current SYSTEM IMAGE version: 01.25.02
Current APPLICATION IMAGE version: 1.40.05

Please be sure your computer is to obtain IP address automatically.

BMW ICOM V2017.08 now has been released. Here is the firmware update guide and introduction of the newest ICOM.

BMW ICOM 2015.8 firmware update guide:
(update file in :D\ICOM_firmware-01_38_00)
1. Please connect your ICOM with LAN cable to the computer, charge ICOM via 12V power adapter.
2. Use IE explorer to open http://169.254.92.38:60080/, user ID/password:   root / NZY11502
3. Click “update firmware”. You will get the ICOM hardware version.
4. Choose “ICOM-BootImage-01-24-00.bin”, set “image type” into “SYSTEM”, then click “send the file”.
5. When it shows “write the image file to the flash?”, click “YES”. Then the light on ICOM will turn red.
6. Then it shows “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successful”, click “update firmware”.
7. Choose “ OBD2 Scanner ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-38-02.bin”, change “image type” into “APPLICATION”, click “send the file”. (it will take some minutes to finish)
8. When it shows “Write the image file to the flash?”, click “YES”, then the ICOM light will turn red again.
9. When all runs well, click “Reboot”.

How to Download and Update BMW ICOM A2 A1 FW1.38

To run newest ISTA-D Rheingold 3.49.30ISTA-P 55.4.000 on BMW ICOM A2/A1, you need to 32 to the newest version
Current SYSTEM IMAGE version: 01.24.00
Current APPLICATION IMAGE version: 01.38.01
There are some ICOM hardware distinguished by Item No. at www.obd2tool.com
How to update ICOM A2/A1 firmware 01.38 / 01.24:
Important Note:
The computer is set to automatically obtain IP address.
Step – by- step
1.Connect BMW ICOM A2A1 to the computer with Lan cable, supply power ICOM A2 hardware by 12V power adapter or by connecting to vehicle.
2.Unzip ICOM A1 A2 fw 1.38 upgrade files.

3.Open IE Internet Explorer, to upgrade perfect version ICOM firmware, browse address http://169.254.33.45:60080/, log in with username/password: root/NZY1150263; to upgrade other version of ICOM firmware, browse http://169.254.92.38:60080/, and the login username and password is the same as perfect version.

4.Click “32”, you can see BMW ICOM firmware version information.


5.Click “Browse” to select file “ICOM-BootImage-01-24-00.bin”, set image type to “SYSTEM”, click “Send the file”.

6.When “Write the image file to the flash?” pops up, click “Yes”, then ICOM indicator will turn red.

7.When “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successful” pops up, click “32”.

8.Choose “ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-38-01.bin”, set image type to “APPLICATION”, click “Send the file”, it will need several minutes because the file is a little bit large.

9.When “Write the image file to the flash?”Pops up, click “Yes”, then the ICOM indicator will turn red for the second times.

10.When upgrade finish, click “reboot”.
11.Click “Home” – “32” to check if ICOM A2 firmware from www.obd2tool.com update to the newest version:
Current SYSTEM IMAGE version: 01.24.00
Current APPLICATION IMAGE version: 01.38.01

ICOM A2 Wifi A2+B+C 2014.4V Engineers Version is a professional and best diagnostic and programming bmw diagnostic scanner. Recently, many fellows called me for Super BWM ICOM A2 USB WIFI setting problem. Here are some successful tips for sharing.
1.Insert usb wifi to the usb port on your computer;

2. Turn off the build-in wifi on the computer or make the additional wifi not work; that is, your usb wifi of your equipment is the only wifi on your computer by Car Scanner. Don’t connect the wired Internet access to the Internet and equipment cable.
3. Press the button to make your computer start after you are sure that you have done all about Step 2.
4. Make sure that the network is turned off and cannot be connected to network cables.

This DWA-131 is your usb-wifi. It cannot be turned off. It is normal to show the mark of a red cross.
5. The software starts and choose WIFI for ICOM.

6. Connect BMW ICOM A2+B+C to your vehicle and you will see that the lights of wlan do not flash or flash slowly after waiting for 20-60s.

It means that both usb wifi and icom A2 wifi are ok.
7. Now you can click diagnosis or programming software.

This prompt information is OK
8. Please minimize the interface for it is not allowed to be closed.

9. The equipment can be recognized normally.

Instruction for update perfect BMW ICOM A2 firmware

Note:
Before update BMW ICOM A2 engineers version, please connect super ICOM A2 with your computer using internet cable, and supply power for perfect ICOM A2 using power adapter or connect with your vehicle.

Click the “ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file” to extract to ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file\.

Open the file “ICOM BMW A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”>”ICOM A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”.


Open the Internet Explorer after opening the Notepad.


Copy the website: http://169.254.33.45:60080/ on the second line from the Notepad to the address on the web page.

Fill in the user’s name and the password from the Notepad.


Choose “Update Firmware” when you come to the ICOM Manager page.
Scroll down the page to find “Update Firmware” part.
Click “Browse…” to choose files (Desktop> the file “Car Diagnostic Tool ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”> “ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”> “ICOM-BootImage-01-24-00”)


Click “Send the file” after you open “ICOM-BootImage-01-24-00”.

Choose “Yes” for “Write the image file to the flash?”

Click “Update firmware”.


Scroll down the page to find “Update Firmware” part.

Click “Browse…” to choose files  (Desktop> the file “ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”> “ICOM ICOM A1 A2 super version 1.38 fixed update file”> “ICOM-Application-01-38-01”)


Choose “APPLICATION” on the image type and send the file.

Choose “Yes” for “Write the image file to the flash?”

Click “reboot”.

Then you will come to the car diagnostic scanner to find out the current PACKAGE, SYSTEM and APPLICATION IMAGE version.
